If you want, you can cut it down, but you will lose the threads. You will then have to re-thread the shifter to accept the stock shift ****...OR...get an aftermarket shift **** that uses set screws to hold it in place since you will no longer have threads.
Thanks, I think I prefer to have it threaded....I can just buy a threader and do it myself right? Well maybe I can fine a Metal shop to do it for me!! Has anyone done this before? Any pics?
if the car is automatic (which im sure it is) becareful when doing this because of the reverse lock out. theres probably some type of clip on the shifter. you have to make sure if you cut the stock length down that you dont cut too far down that the lock out wont work anymore.

This car has a gated shifter, it does not have the reverse lock out. That's only on the cars that need you to press the button on the shifter to shift out of park and such.
