Default Timing Belt Question?

I'm in College so my budget is kind of tight. Anyways, I am looking on getting my Timing Belt Replaced soon. I have heard that many replace the Thermostat while they are having their belt done. However, I was wondering if anyone has actually had the Thermostat fail or need replacement? Without the thermostat I'm looking at the following labor:
Timing Belt Job
Water Pump Job
Crank Seals
Cam Seals
Dry Belt
So is the thermostat necessary?

let me put it this way....DO the thermostat at the same time since your not doing all your own work it will be cheaper with it all torn down. wouldnt u hate to have a freshly rebuilt car and the thermostat fails and you gotta pay labor AGAIN on this?

i did mine with my 90k service.....never thought bout it again till right now

The thermostat is so cheap and its right there when you do the water pump. Like "Sakataj" said, do it now so you don't have to pay to do it later.

thermostat is like $12.. if the person doing your work wants to add on a bunch of labor fees for doing it at the same time, slap him.. and find another mechanic.

You really dont need to get the cam/crank seals replaced. When i was talking with both my lexus mechanic as well as the mechanic at toyota (the tundra has the same v8 as the gs400) they both said they have never heard of the seals going on the v8. They go often on the gs300 but not on the 1uz. 141k miles and i have to agree with them, seals are bone dry.

Yeah I've been going to the same shop for a while now so I trust them. I told them just to replace what was necessary. They ended up just Replacing my Water Pump, T-Stat with Gasket, and My Timing Belt. Everything else was in great shape.
