Default Are we wasting our money?

So I feel like I spent way more money then my car is worth. Why do I do this with every car I get! Smh. I need to learn how to invest my money where it will grow in time. I know if I buy something for my lexus, it will drop about half of the price I bought it for. After spending about $5000 on parts alone. I know I could only sell it for $1000(tops) more then a stock Lexus. Maybe not even for a $1000 more.

Mainly all suspension parts. Rims, coilovers, camber kits, grille, taillights, etc.

I know it's a hobby. I wish I could find a hobby to make more money and not to spend more money.

I think I'm just at the age where money is more important then having a modded car.

Sorry for a sad thread. Haha. Just venting out right now.

^^ i second that. Your car looks nice, appreciate what you have. Once you are bored, its either time to do more, or get a new car.

haha this is an awesome thread!
why? because its true.. yet its not.

like gsjason300 said, its a hobby. pretty much everyone has one, this happends to be ours (even though my gs isnt really modded)! but i guess its just a coincidence that ours happeneds to cost so much money.

im 20 and in college. and this is my car:

with the exception of audio and a few very minor things, my gs is essentially stock
and i think "damn if it was only a different color paint, i'd fix it up GOOD!" (or to my taste at least) but then i think exactly what you said, would i be wasting my money and time? im pretty much a business mind, though i havnt exactly gone into business completely, i know that if i get that nice paint job i want and start getting the wheels, suspension, etc it'll be A LOT of money i could use and invest towards something else.

i see some damn right amazingly nice cars here, and sometimes i wish i could have mine look like theirs. and i think i probably could if i saved up a lot of my money and got to it, but not only am i a broke 20 year old college kid who only works seasonal (tax season), so i cant really afford it, but i also think it would be too much of my money going towards something that although i do love, will probably not be worth very much in the end.

i'll keep trying to mod my car little by little as i can, and try to keep a good balance between modding and keeping my financials in good set.

...but modding pretty much is some good ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =D

You will have to ask yourself if you do it for fun and if that fun is worth what you spend. Cars are a depreciating asset. Look at some of the cars at Barrett-Jackson. Some cost $100K to build and sell for $40K.

I love the way your car looks, personally my car i have so much money on and I have no plans of getting rid of it ever, I might buy other new cars, but this one will stay forever. Its just something that I cant let go of. I like it too much.

Imagine how those of us feel that have $15k+ on their car?

If you're modding to invest, then your motives are flawed As said already, its a hobby not an investment.
