Hi Experts,
I am new to the forum. A friend of mine with a 1998 GS400 rear ended an SUV, her front end went under the rear end of the SUV, nothing happened to the SUV and she took the GS400 back home and never told insurance. The car has a 1 owner, clean title, clean history report, 131,000 KM = 82,000 miles.
Now she just wants to get rid of it and will take $4,000. Is this a good deal?? It looks like it needs a hood, bumper (cracked), and radiator support. The radiator is pushed back on the top a couple of inches and rad support twisted. Sorry for the bad cell phone pics. Can you tell me if this is worth fixing?? Would anybody on this forum be interested in purchasing as is if I broker a deal?? How about as a part out car?? Or simply, too old and too much damage, not worth it??
Thanks for all your help. Looking forward to all your comments!!

I wouldn't say $4000 is a steal. In fact I think your friend would do well if someone took her car away for $4k.
Unless repairs are done really well (i.e. big money) an accident repaired car probably wouldn't sell for more than 5-6K. The really well maintained non-accidented cars sell for around 7-8K. At least that's what I have noticed for the 98-99 GS4's here in Ontario.
Your friends car is relatively low mileage and looks to be otherwise clean and rust-free. So it's probably a good canditate for repair if the original owner wants to keep it for a few more years or if you know somebody that really wants an antique bronze mica GS400. I have the same car and I can't say it was the colour that drove me to buy my car!

its true this year and mileage sells for around $7-8k
the only way I personally would buy a car like this is if you are savvy enough piece all the the noticably damaged parts together yourself from a totaled car or something for CHEAP and give all the parts to the body shop to have them fix it
OTHERWISE
if you take it to a shop to fix it outright I dont think its quite worth it because you will end up paying really close if not the same amount of the value of the car ($7-8k) and could have just bought one without the headache OR the front end collision.
just my .02cents
