Rear Driver door issues...

Whenever I open my rear driver side door, none of the lights turn on. When I open any other door, the light will turn on. I don't believe the car knows that the door has been opened. No, none of the bulbs are burnt out. When I unlock the car and only open that door, the car will lock itself after 30 seconds or so because it thinks that I haven't opened a door.
Is this a door lock actuator issue? The lock works just fine though...

Parkersan, I don't think he's talking about the child safety switch, he's probably talking about the door ad-jar switch. Usually when you open a door, you have a light in your cluster showing that a door is opened. When you open that door, does the light come on?

I had the same problem with my gs400 1999. Sometimes it does work but 99% of the time when i open one of the rear doors, the domelight, lights at the bottom of the door and open door indicator in cluster panel will not come on. After running through all the cheap fixes i swapped out the reardoor control module and everything works fine again.

you have a 98 gs.. those have a light switch problem.. i fixed my x gf's gs cause both her rears roof lights didnt turn on and so does the dome.. I removed the latches and cut out the switch.. hot glued in some mirco switches in and the work... for a while and the switches broke too... the better way is to get the 05 latches has a better switch.. oh and if your are thinking of installing chrome handles.. do it at the same time..

You are correct. The doorswitch is in the locking assembly. Just use a multimeter and see if the switch is working correctly. Innitially my first guess was the doorswitch but when i started measuring the switch was functioning correctly. I wanted to give up, but when i connected all the connectors in the reardoor control module the lights went on?!? After building the door together again i looked again and the lights stayed off while opening both rear doors. My brother who is good in electronics came with the thought that the module could have a defect because of components on the print can dry up when used not much. So i ordered a second hand module on ebay and it solved my problem 100%
