GS400 = 1998-2000, 4.0L V8, More performance oriented

GS430 = 2001-2005, 4.3L V8, More luxury oriented

what makes the 400 more performance oriented? Suspension, tuning? I am confused on that one.

E-shift buttons on the steering wheel, faster throttle response due to being drive by cable compared to drive by wire (electric) in the 430.

The 400 engine is easier to mod than the 430 I believe.

My car has the same amount of wood in it as the GS430, minus the wood steering wheel.

I have OEM HID headlights too.

400 gets my vote. It's cheaper.

do a bit of research man. sounds like you may be rushing into it.

like lloyd says, go w/ the 400. i have a 430 and the DBW is kind of annoying.

or u can just buy mine and ship it down south.

I'd try for $12,500 or so, don't forget the timing belt ($1,000+ unless you do it yourself) will be needed in 4k more miles.

For perspective, I'm getting ready to sell my 03 430 81k miles silver on black for probably about $12k something.

I think it's too high, i think you should be able to get a clean GS430 for around 10k with resonable mileage, maybe go higher for low mileage and newer years..

also like mentioned make sure if it's nearing the 90k service it's either been done, or price discounted..

I personally would go with the 430, the 01+ GS's have some nicer upgrades, that will add up if you buy a older model and buy the 01+ upgrades, you mine as well start with the 01+

the only benefit IMO of the 400, is E-shift buttons, but honestly how often are they used?

430 updated interior, chrome shifter bezel, silver trim on gauges, nicer looking more modern steering wheel, nicer taillights, all the 430 have factory HID's, bigger exhaust tips..

the 400 is said to be marginally quicker from the start, but i mean is anyone really buying GS4's to race people? my 430 felt plenty fast, i think the 430 has a better midrange power band as well..

If you get a 400, i wouldn't pay over 8000, unless it was like black on black or something..

I previously had a 98 GS300, and a 01 GS430 and my GS430 just seemed like a much newer car then my 98, just with the little subtle differences..
