Talking New audio system has arrived...Crap, all these wires...

My parts have arrived:
Kicker c10 sub
Polk MM6501s for the front
Polk MM651s for the rear
Alpine PDX-5 5-channel amp

Is an equalizer necessary?

I looked at the DIY stickies and am wondering if anyone has a copy of the Crutchfield install guide for a 2GS. I'm not sure how to route the wires from the front speakers to the trunk, where I plan to mount the amp...

Thanks!

Just run them through the side carpet to the back, not too much rocket science.

As for an eq, not really necessary. Now unless you're **** about sound like me, a decent deck can take care of that, just put the amp to full pass and you should be good.

Thanks.
Hopefully the install will look as clean as I envision it...I'll post pics of the install on that factory speaker & sub DIY.

Are you using an aftermarket head unit?

Jokster is correct. If you get a descent headunit with a more than 4 volts, you don't really need a equalizer unless u r serious about your audio.

I got my car doors torn apart right now. LOL I'll be using Dynamat Extreme (toward the exterior in the car) wherever I can stick it and VB-2 combo on the interior facing part of the doors. It's supposed to look clean when I'm done... Then I'll work on quieting the back of the car down. But I haven't gotten there yet.

Currently making the mounts for the 6.5s in the front. Making a mess cutting all this mdf. Freakin dust gets everywhere! =P

I don't think the HU I got is running > 4v. If I'm going to do the work, I might as well do right. Since I got the glove compartment all taken apart, I could mount an EQ there. Any EQ recs?

what head unit u going to put in there? A lot of decks have a built-in EQ already so may not even need an external one.

I'm installing a Kenwood KDC-HD545U

If there is an EQ, it's probably pretty basic or has presets according to genre.

I'll post them after I get my garage all cleaned up. MDF dust and dynamat pieces are everywhere!

Default I'd like to see the results!

All of the stereo install threads are missign their pictures, and it is hard to figure out. Where did you put your amp? Did you re-wire al of your speakers, or did you tap into the stock wiring to get back to the speakers?

when i installed my AVIC-Z120BT, it wouldn't work with the original amp, so the amp had to be bypassed and all the speakers rewired. I also ended up having to buy another amp to power the subwoofer.

Look into AudioControl for EQ. Best ones ever!
