I've been discussing roll vs shave for 10 years on this GS forum.

It's fruitless to debate or chime in with your vote on this thread.

There are plenty of Qualified opinions from Veteran members who know the GS inside and out. Example: You can't compare experiences rolling fenders on a Honda versus a GS.

I suggest everyone DO A SEARCH for old thread discussions and decide for themselves instead of reading a few opinions on this newbie thread.

If you cut the front, you run the risk of the wheel/tire pulling or pushing the fender out/in. I did this and had to replace the fender. It's typically the passenger side as you'll make hard right turns in the left hand drive world. rolling them at least leaves some reinforcement that creates rigidity.

As for the rears, this is really a dynamic of your offset. It needs to be cut/shaved, but the amount is related to your situation. I cut to the middle of the small holes that hold on the fender trim. Obviously it's the most aggressive right in the middle of the arch and tapers out as the wheel goes down. With a body saw it took a few minutes at most. Just use a fine tooth blade when you cut so you don't rip everything to hell.

My front drivers side is cut too but it's never been a problem and now that my car is stock it never will be.

As for the plastic, I cut out about 4-5 inches from the outermost side of the plastic. There is a natural lift in the plastic by the way it's molded and I cut to that point. It's tapered like the fenders as well. So start about 10" from the middle on each side.

For an idea of what was too dangerous for the front, I had 19x8 with a +20 offset on 225/35/19 tires. When I dropped down to a 215/35/19 it was no longer a problem, but I had nothing to correct camber.

Hope this helps.

Just want to share my experience with rolled rear.
I paid someone to roll my rear fenders and paid a good amount of service for it.
Just last week same wheels but new tires .... driving home notice my new tires got shaved and unrolled several areas on the fenders

Why ^^^^^^ you should have shaved. Lesson learned and now can be corrected.
