How to improve the RMM grille 'fit'...
I finally got around to trying to improve the fit on the RMM grille. For those who have it, you probably about the issues:
1) The center upper attachment point (left of center looking from the front of the car) pushes the grille OUT from the hood a bit more than desired.
2) The upper mesh attachment screws (left right of the upper attachment point) and upper bar itself tends to 'sag' a bit inward from that attach point.
3) Finally, the upper left and right attach points tend to push the upper ends of the grille out a bit too far from the hood.
So here's my take on addressing 1, 2, and 3.
For item 1, I figured maybe I could somehow shave down the mounting block the screw goes into since it's really pretty big. I think this would work but I didn't end up doing it a) because of time, b) because it might damage the thread the screw goes into, and c) I found a compromise - I removed the screws and bent downward with pliers the inner metal hood piece that the screw goes through. This did make this attach point not bulge out so much. I may still try the shaving at some point though.
For item 2, the screws that attach the mesh to the grille sit on the inside hood metal edge so what I decided to do was put some fat washers between the screw and mesh to push the mesh and therefore the grill bars OUT. This was quite successful and probably the best part of the fix.
For item 3, like item 1, I bent downward the inside metal hood edge which made the grille ends not stick out quite so much.
Overall I'm quite pleased. The grille definitely fits better now.
Hope it helps someone.

Thanks for the writeup, I'll be trying to fit mine very soon. Waiting for some new grill material to arrive, should be here any day now.

Bit - Thanks for sharing the info. I'm suppose pick mine up from the paint shop today...I'm sure the info will come in handy.
I went back in forth on whether or not I wanted the RMM grill...I aways thought it looked the best of all the aftermarket grills I've seen, but I was concerned with the fitment issue as well as the somewhat "hondaish" appearance. After seeing your ride and others with it, I totally convinced that no one is going to mistake my car for a Honda Plus, another CL member gave me a deal on the grill that was too good to pass up...thanks Ken.

RMM w/Different Grill Material
Picked up the new grill material, won't tell you what I paid but let's say it's one heck of a scam. It's a heavy aluminum diamond pattern that was easy to cut and shape. It's much, much heavier than the stock RMM material that comes with the grill.
I don't have the RMM mounted, perhaps later this week. I like the new silver, my wife likes the stock RMM black.

just got my L-Sportline grill painted and installed. Before painting, I tried to put it on the car and see how it fits. the top part of the grill has about a 1/4~1/2 inch gap between it and the hood, but then after painting and installing, it's perfect. Could it be that the polyurethane bends itself to shape after painting and heat
I've heard that RMM grills had fitting problems, and when I saw one at the last last carson meet it wasn't that bad. Maybe you guys are alot pickier than me
