I got this one from eBay. The CD looks like it was home brewed. Inside, it contains several pdf files broken down into different areas like exhaust system, brake system, etc.

In my opinion, this is not a pdf copy of the oem Lexus repair manual. I have attached one section here, Theory of Operation, so people with the oem book can look at it and verify. Let us know what you found.

It is better than the ones that are sold in Pep Boys like Chiltons or Mitchells that cover a decade of Lexus cars from the ES to the LX in one book. There's more details in the CD but it's not the original.

For $40, it's OK.

well the OEM set for the 1999 has lots of pictures. I got the 3 volume set (2 repair 1 electrical) for $90 off of eBay! most pages in the volume have pictures and there isn't a theory of operations section in it.

can anybody post the section where self-diagnostic test can be run. i wanted to check the error codes from the ecm, does this require dealer?

To check the error codes you will need an OBD II scanner. They can be had from 45.00-2k$ depending on the depth of features your looking for. Any of them will pull the codes.
