I just got 99 GS300 the other night and love it... Finally got it registered this morning. Last night the radio was working perfectly, and now today it works fine for about 5 - 10 seconds and then gets real staticky like the radio station signal is fading and then goes to pure static. And if you turn the radio off and then back on, it works again for about 5-10 secs again and the same thing happens. Any idea what can be causing this?

 

Is your car under warranty? I know the 99 GS300 Radios were having problems. Mine has been replaced and I think a few others here have had problems with theres as well. If you are still having a problem, and not under warranty, I saw some stock headunits for sale in the classifieds. Just my 02 cents. It might not even be the headunit. Maybe call the dealer and see what they say.

 

thanks, I was planning on calling the dealer anyway, just wanted to see if maybe someone new a quick fix. It is still under warranty so if there is a problem they should hopefully take care of it.

 

If you put in a station on the radio, does the name and the info on the same come up too? If not, then it is most likely some antenna problem or something to do with electrical. Otherwise, its probably just the radio malfunctioning.

When I was looking at the Red SC400, the radio was wet because they had just cleaned it really well, and this happened, so we just had to let it dry.
