You are confused.

I'm not attempting to sway you towards legal tint. I could care less what you like. I agree that 'everyone has his/her own opinion and taste', but just so you understand, that doen't make it OK to be illegal, which is what you stated before.

Yeah, and guess what that nice black tint got me... that's right, I'm also sporting a nice yellow ticket. DOH!

Who makes the best tint film? I guess I'm looking for non-metalic since I'm picking up my new 2002 GS300 with Nav tomorrow or Saturday.
I've just had 'FormulaOne' film installed and it looks like high quality tint to me. I think their web site is www.cpfilms.com.

I've heard good things about Quantum film tint too.

My tint shop did not recommend non-metallic because they said it would fade quickly. But I got the sense that FormulaOne non-metallic wouldn't be like the crap that turns purple as it fades.

Since yours is a 2002, you might be ok going with metallic all around since the antenna is not in the same place as it is on mine. My tint shop said they'd done several new ES300's with nav for a Lexus dealer with no problems.

And to answer the long standing question - did the metal film WITH CUTOUT affect my nav, the answer is YES, but not a problem. After I start my car it takes about a minute to get a satelite lock whereas I *think* it used to be much quicker before (15-30 seconds). However, it has not LOST satelite lock once it's picked it up yet, so I'm satisfied with the result.

I still haven't rolled down any window yet, following the tint shop's advice of waiting 2 or 3 days.

But I'm pleased with the resulting look - sometimes I think it's darker than I expected and other times I think it's lighter than I expected. It hasn't been as hot here the past few days so I don't really know how much cooler it will make the car on a scorcher.

I did and continue to use a front window highly reflective shield when my car is parked. The place I bought it from (#800-777-6405, don't know a web site for it) is great because they make them an EXACT fit for each model of car and for less than $30. Recommended.
