Oh yeah? my dealer quietly whispered GS8000 GTS Turbo L-Tuned TOM! everything ... he said Lexus will throw EVERYTHING including the kitchen and sink into the new GS. Beyond the latest techs, you'll find innovations from marketing like "buy 3 wheels and get the 4th for free".
Seriously, I doubt the new V8 will surpass 5.0 liter displacement.
Likely they will tune the current 4.3 liter to generate around 325hp. Cut some weight with carbon-fiber or aluminum panels here and there like the Germans are doing with new 5 series and the E-class. You'd easily have a 5.5 second GS. Lexus did shake the high-performance sedan world with the GS 4yrs ago, I hope they'll continue with that mentality with the new GS.
Automotive Magazine predicts that Lexus can make it output 350hp for the next Supra. The previous 4.0 liter engine had an 8-year lifespan. I would imagine the current 4.3 will live just as long.

Nobody know for sure about the new GS yet and Lexus is good about keep the secret of their new car. The RX330 for example, suppose to comes out next April, but no picture on the magazine yet. Forget about new GS that almost 2 more years before it will come out.

This article about the 2004 supra was taken from Road and Track magazine, I summarized the article:
"The future front-engine/rear drive sports car will borrow styling cues from that icon, while using the Lexus IS300 platform as a base. The two engines are believed to be a v6 from the ES300 bored out to 3.5 liiters with around 280 bhp. Another version will use the 4.3 found in the LS430. With a little tuning, Toyota should easily achieve 350 bhp from this powerplant. Prices from 30000-45000." I think these are probably the engines that will also go into the next GS, maybe even the IS since its the same platform?
they also talk about the 2004 Toyota Super Sport GT. Basically they say it will have the a version of the v10 F1 engine. Weigh roughly 3200 lb and make 450 bhp. It will cost around 150,000.
Id say the price of the GT definately rules out the GS getting the v10. Im not sure about the v12, but I doubt that would be a viable option either. I think the next GS will debut next year at an auto show, (maybe Tokyo) so until then we'll have to guess.

No V-12 from the Century, sorry. GS 430 engine can be bored and stroked to 400hp easy without increasing liter size. Seeing the new E500 has 302 hp, and we have 300 from the 4.0 liter and the 4.3 liter, I don't think increasing liters is a Toyota priority.
TRUCKS is a toyota priority now, a 5.0 liter V-8 for the TRUCKS is coming, not for the sedans, coupes.

5.0
Various auto magazine say to expect 5.4 liter engine for the next Tundra. It's safe to assume the new high-torque engine will go into the next LX (i.e. LX540).
It seems cost ineffective to design/test a 4.3 liter engine only to shelf it after 4 years. Given that Toyota likes to copy and enhance the market leader in the past, you'd deduce that the 5.4 liter is aimed dead at the Ford F150. Likewise with the GS/LS following Mercedes E/S class, the next GS/LS V8 will be a 5.0 liter.
So hopefully, Lexus will bump up the schedule and bring out the 5.0 instead of an enhanced 4.3.
