Default ISSUE! pop/clicking sound

I just picked up a 01 gs300. when i first got the car i heard a pop/clicking sound once in a while when i braked. now its starting to be more common.
The sound is coming from the passanger front when i stop or slow down. once in a blue moon it happens to the driverside. need some help please give feedback.

Check brakes, pads could be gone or maybe calipers could be seized...

i think its gonna be the brake pad shims to keep the brake pads from shifting check it and see if it makes the sound when backing up and then going forward

Replace the brake clips, aka brake fitment kit, aka brake hardware. This will cost you maybe $10 for 3rd party made parts at rockauto, or like $30 for lexus parts (sewell has it as one of their top quick service items)

It'll cost you the same in labor as a full brake job, so you may just want to wait until next brake job, or replace the pads while you're in there.

There is nothing seriously wrong indicated by the sound, it's part of the toyota design and should only happen first brake after a direction change (fwd->rev).
