Default 96 GS300 66K miles $18.9K + Fees

Found a GS300 with 66K miles. for $18.9K + Fees But the CarFax report saying it is registered as a Commerical in 2000. DO you guys think this is a fair deal?

I had a hard time with the salesman at that dealer , but the car is in very good condition (by far the best I have seen). But I think the price is still too high for a 96 GS300. Plus is is registered as a Commerical Vehicle too.

Anyone has commons? Should I keep my patience to find another one?

Does Comercial mean that it was used as a buisness car or a rental car?

18k is alot for a 96GS300. For a little tad bit more, you can easily find a 98 (new body style) GS300, which has more features.

Not sure if your a first gen. fan though.

That is really expensive. I'm not too worried about the commercial vehicle thing as being a problem, though. Guy who had it before might have been just found a way to work the system and had some sort of tax write-off.

I have a '93 GS with less miles and I wouldn't expect more than $10,000. I could probably get 8-9 for it. They want twice that and it's only 3 years newer. Of course it is hard to find a '96. I never see them on the road. Are there none in the local paper? I'll check in the Dallas Morning News and see how much people are asking around here. Perhaps you can go back to the dealer and haggle a bit with this information.

Otherwise I would suggest waiting for another one to turn up.

Ok, there is a '96 with everything but the CD player and a 52,700 miles here at the Dallas dealership Sewell Lexus for $22,000. So I guess as far as dealerships are concerned you are getting a fair price. Talk about retaining resale value, wow. Gotta love Lexus. I didn't see any for sale by owner so I don't know how much less it would be. Of course buying from the dealer has its advantages.

Good luck with your purchase. I hope this helps.

Certainly the Dealer list their car using the Hig Blue Book Price. In my opinion $18.5 is still too much for a 6 yrs old car. II have seen some private seller sell their 98 GS3 with around 60K mikes for $23K to $27K. In comparison, the 96 GS3 is too much (after adding lincense and fees will reach over $20K). I think I will keep searching for a 96-97 gs3. I am pretty sure there are some nice one out there but just not the timing yet.

Also I don't like dealing with small used car dealership, they are want to rid your and doesn't treat you kindly.

Default 1st Gen GS

I paid $23,000 for my 95 with 55,000 miles about 20 months ago, I could have gotten a 98 for another year of payments, but I do not regret buying my car at all. The thing that I don't get on ebay the 1st generations are going for pocket change, but blue book on my car is still $20,000, maybe because they are so rare. The GS400 with the 17's and the spoiler looks good, but the 300 with the 16's looks like crap. Someone with under 70,000 miles with a 1st generation to give a car like that up for under $10,000 is a fool, or has a car that has not been taken care of. If the car is nice, tell them you will give them $15,000.

Thanks for you information: CHMPNGS

Although the 96 GS300 is so nice. I really don't want to pay that much for a 6 years old car. In my opinion, my resonable price for a 96-97 GS300 should be around $15000-$17000 (that's the BlueBook Private Price Range). I will probably spend some more time to find that particular car.

By the way you Gold GS looks great

Well the reason I said 8-9k is because the front bumper is all scratched up (not sure how that happened) and I have none of the optional equipment. If he found one without the sunroof, heated seats, CD player, the 17" wheels, spoiler, and whatever else it would lower the price considerably.

Oh yeah, traction control. Don't have that, either. That would really save you some money if you didn't want it.

Default GS300

TOOG4ME...

I THINK 18GRAN FR 1996 GS300 IS A GOOD PRICE, NOT A BARGAIN. I GOT MINE FR 25,000.00 WITH 38,000 MILES, PEARL WHITE/GREY. I FOUND MINE IN THE INTERNET, TOOK ME ALMOST 3 MOS TO LOCATE ONE, A DECENT,CLEAN ONE I SUPPOSE. IT IS KIND OF DIFFICULT TO FIND '96 AND '97 AT A DECENT PRICE REGARDLESS OF THE CONDITION OF THE CAR, OF COURSE.

The 96 GS3 i found is in great shape. But the salesman there is an *******, so I don'/t want to deal with that dealer. It took me more than a month to locate this GS. But I think I will keep looking for another one.

By the way, I heard quit amount of windnoise when I test drove the 96 GS on the freeway. Is that a normal problem on the 1st gen GS?
