Default Thinking of buying a '02, '03 GS300 - need your input

Hey Guys (and Gals),
I'm new to this forum, hope you all can help me without the typically newbie flogging and asking stupid questions.

Before I ask this question, I did do a search on "buying", "things to look out for", etc. to make sure there wasn't a thread already.

Anyways, I'm thinking of buying the wife a 2002, or 2003 GS300. What are the things to look out for when buying these model years? I know that there's the 90K service that should be done, but what other things should I be on the look out for? I'm in the Bay Area California, so what type of price should I be looking at? I think these cars are around 100k or so given the year.

Thanks for your help in advance.

no engine leak, check the ball joint, shocks, ask the previous owner what has been done on it.. also if you get the VIN, maybe you can check what are the maintenance that was done by the dealer. My friend bought his for under $7600.00 with 160K on the dash..

A well documented records of service car would be best. owner presentation is a key point if a seller will show you a dirty car you can assume he doesnt care to much about it. GLWB also take a look at the gs400 if you dont mind some power

To those who responded, thanks for your input. I'll keep it in mind. I've called up the Stealership to also get an idea of how much it would cost from them to do the 90K service.

Are the Ball Joints still a problem with these years? I know they were for earlier models right?

They were particularly a problem for 98-00 models, but it's still best to do it since it's a wear and tear item.
