GS - 2nd Gen (1998-2005) Discussion about the second generation GS300, GS400 and GS430 (1998 - 2005)

Looky what I found. Could this be the reason for our cars feeling sluggish?

You guys gotta be careful with these alternators that have higher output. Their reliability is one thing, but if they have higher output you better upgrade your ground wires and positive wires, otherwise you're asking for your car to set on fire.

Perhaps you unplugged your battery when you changed the sensor and that was why your GS was more responsive.
I think on a toyota forum, I don't remember.

Chris - I got mine upgraded at a local shop around my way in Richmond Hill, NY. Good price and reliable work.

Very good point your best bet is to go with 0 gauge.

This is the one I got...

I think my mechanic may have left my belt too tight because it squeels for the 1st half hour of driving! It is driving me crazy...but it then goes completely away afterwords; idle or driving. Why would a squeeking/squeeling noise like this go away after driving a bit? Is it the belt itself or tensioner?

AFAIK, you can't make the belt too tight on our cars. The tensioner is not adjustable.

This is the funniest thing I've read all week. Thanks.

The reason your car may seem like a "beast" is because you unplugged the battery and wiped the ECU. Once you got back in it and drove it hard, the timing tables were probably advanced quite a bit compared to previously so it does have more power, but it's marginal.
