Default Metra vs others

I know there is pleanty of info out there but wonder what peoples opinions are about the dash kit situation for the gs. Looking for a double din dash kit. I know people say Calson for matchin color.

Main reason i am asking is if you could get a metra dash kit for 7 bucks new, would you still prefer the Calson taking into account price.

The color on the Metra kit is slightly off. The OEM kit leaves a small gap between the DD and the actual kit. I opted for the Metra kit.

Personally it'd drive me nuts to look at a kit that didn't match every day. The OEM kit was well worth the ridiculous price to me. I've got the HU "flush" mounted in the kit so it sits in just a bit from trim piece and am very happy with the way it looks.

I would go with the OEm kit. I have the metra one and the color difference is way off for my taste. Remember, you get what you pay for.

I have a sport design gs. It has the silver dash trim, so even the oem double din kit won't match. I just got the metra kit and made it fit better. Ill paint it silver to match later on lol.

What's the deal with the fitment on the Metra kit? I've never seen one in person but am planning to throw in my Kenwood DD into mine and there doesn't seem to be many options out there for face kits.

Everyone says that (including me) and never does. I am yet to see a SPORTDESIGN with a matching silver kit...

i got the metra sitting in my closet. changed it out for the oem. the oem was well worth it. if u decide to go with the metra, u can have mine for free if youre near orange county. i bought it for 20 bucks though. wish i found it for 7

I work at best buy.... and 7 bucks is with the special order fee and shipping hehehe.... the perks of working at best buy.

You guys sure are not making this easy lol. seems like the Carlson is the way to go unless you wrap your kit with some material, in which the kit would not matter if it matched, just fitment.

Ohhhh man what to do, what to do.
