Default Accessory Belt Tensioner?

So my mechanic has narrowed down the whine to the Accessory belt tensioner and it needs to be replaced. I can't find any part numbers for this? Could i just replace with something from Rock auto?

http://catalog.oehq.com/item.wws?cli...S9NDJ35V0S9NDI

Would something like this work? Also has anybody ever replaced one of these? Theres no DIY on how to replace it. Thanks!

When I had my LS, i replaced it with the one from Rock Auto, but it didn't even fit right, I had to file a corner down to make it fit.

I highly recommend going OEM.

WAIT UP! I also had a thread that I recently started about a squeeling that got louder after I replaced my alternator. My mechanic says it's my belt. I feel that it could be my belt OR PERHAPS I thought it could be that the belt is too tight. MANY on these forums said that the belt is self tensioning and that their is NO ADJUSTMENT!? Now your telling me that their IS IN FACT a accessory belt tensioner? DAMN! This could be the culprit to my issues as well. Gotta look up in my thread as to who passed off poor information to me!

I'm glad I saw this thread!

Yes there is a Accessory belt tensioner. It is the pulley you move to take off and put on the belt and my mechanic says that this is the one making the most noise right now since they bearings are pretty much shot. Unfortunately, i can't seem to find the part on Sewell. If you have any luck could you shoot me the part number?

Shouldn't be to hard of an install either.

It should be part code 16620. See the complete part list below the image after you click the image for more details.

Thank you Darrel! Is it really only one bolt to replace? That should be easy

Oh.. Is it both 16620 and 16603 that need to be replaced? I'm confused

16603 is what you need if you only need to replace the pulley. If the spring is no longer providing tension, then you'll want 16620, but the latter doesn't usually occur.

It's still applying tension. The only reason im replacing it is due to the whining noise coming from the pulley. Thanks GSteg, so 16603 should fix that?

Yes exactly. But it's only the main pulley that's making most of the noise from what people have told me.
