Yea I was just refering to the quote I got.

For the front (underhood), I will go for the HC1800.

But funds wise where I stand right now, after the 3.5K+ leather covers, HO alternator, and all the wiring stuff ... and a return flight ticket

My bank account is not as heavy as it was.

My wish list, is to get "Spanky's rear Garson table" as well.
Still awaiting reply.

But...

Im basically trying to go for the minimum in order to keep the GS running without too much problems electrically for atleast 4 months.

It doesn't seem like it but you have to know that Velcro was a joke, right?? If you don't bolt a battery down and you end up in a crash that battery will tear through the entire car. If you have air tanks and a compressor back there as well, not bolted down, you should sue whoever installed it. If you are doing installs like this yourself, but are afraid of drilling a few holes in the car, you probably shouldn't be doing the work. Sorry, but you are building something very unsafe.

Yea I figured that about velcro being ripped apart in an accident.
Or maybe on a sharp turn... and with age the velcro also
loses its strength. So just a hazard waiting to happen.

Was just hoping there was another way.... but I guess not.

I am not doing the work on my car. The person that will be, works on his GS all the time. Has 3 batteries in the trunk.

I am probably going to have the battery placed on the right or left panel in the trunk, is that a safe place to bolt it down ?

More pics please...

Approx. how long does it take to do a dual battery setup ?

Ie with wiring and the big three...

I found a place that is about 1.5 hrs from me, and the guy that works there
knows what he is doing, but I think they will try and pull a fast one. That is increase the amount of hours they actually worked on the car.

thanks

someone who does it daily with the correct tools and equipment on hand could probably do it in an hour or so but may charge you up to 4 hrs labor. if you can pump gas, you could probably do this yourself and possibly learn something in the process.

Have you looked into getting a Stinger battery? My first gen GS has the battery relocated to the trunk, and the Stinger batteries come with their own metal box, and it is drilled into the bottom of the trunk.

Thats exactly what I am thinking will happen to me.
I got one estimate saying less than 8 hrs but more than 4...

LOL I wish it was as simple as pumping gas

Yea I found that out a little too late, I ended up getting kinetik batteries.
Will need to secure it to wood. And will need a clamp of some sort.

i used to do it daily but its been 15 yrs, if you have any questions i would be happy to help as im sure a lot of others more familiar would too.

if you want to get the most out of the dual battery system, get an isolator as well. that way you can park and listen to the radio or play with the suspension and still be able to crank up and leave.
