When I try to engage the cruise, the green "cruise" light will come on and remains on, however, when pushing the handle down to engage, it will not engage.

I took the car to tha local dealer ( Grapevine ), and at first the sevice writer told me there will be a $49.99 diagnoses charge. Then, 30 minutes later he came back and said " the tech has to do further testing and it would be
$ 99.00. Then, an hour later, he came back again, and said "the tech wanted $200.00 to continue the diagnoses. All the while he had no clues.

What's up with these people?

Any ideas about what could possible cause this and / or possible fixes?

I went online to "ALLDATA.COM" and downloaded the trouble shooting procedures but not sure how to proceed.......
