Default Appointment set

GS4will,
I have an appointment at 6:45 PM tomorrow at Longo for the
service. The service schedule lady said it will be done by
9:00 AM next day because the loaner car should be return
by that time. I wonder how long does it take for Veronne
or other technician to work on the steering pretension adjustment
? Can LongoLex finished them within 3 hours ?

(4-wheel alignment check + autotrasmission oil change + engine oil change w/ Mobile 1 all together)

Hey Guys,

Funny I called Longo Lexus today but Verone is on vacation, so the receptionist transfered me to another tech. and he had no clue what a steering pretension adjustment was. I asked if maybe Verone, when he gets back from vacation, could call Motor City Lexus and discuss with them the solution to the vibration and he told me every dealership is under their own ownership, we don't tell them what to do and likewise......pursuit of perfection isn't that the motto, if someone else has a fix I don't know of anyone that wouldn't want to know.

He suggested I take the foreman tech. for a ride. My last check-up they couldn't find anything wrong but then again I did not go with them.

I guess if my dealership doesn't acknowledge the problem I will have to pursuit to perfection over at Longo which is 2 hrs. south of me.

Anyone else have any suggestion, comments?

I just had my steering pretensioner tighten at the dealership. The steering vibration problems seem to be resolved. I love how there is less play in the steering wheel: cool:. My GS even corner much better at high speeds. Talk to the dealership and have do the same to your car--it like night turning into day

just 2 cents.

to all scal LA gs bros/sis.....

this is one of the best, if not the best thing/mod you can do to the gs....if the car is still warranty, it is complementry(aka covered under warranty).....mine was adjusted at only 1/16...ohhhh, what a nice steering feel....

for other regions, please have you servisor check TSB for you...

Default TSB for stereering pretensioner

Where can I get more information about this TSB? I went to Longo, and the guy I worked with didn't know what the pretensioner thing was!

And if it's covered under warranty, even better!

Thanks Will! This forum is very helpful in part to people like you. I have a question to everyone, is it possible to do this yourself? I mean, from the picture, adjusting the steering pretensioner appears to be turning a nut/screw! You turn it 1/16 of an inch, right? Has anyone done this themselves?

if you have warranty, i would go back to do it coz' it looks easy but can't be bad. coz' if you tighten it too much you can brake the colume and stuff

if you are out of warranty like me, i would still go there to do it. hell replacing the whole thing can't be cheap

yeah, what romi said....sound like tony your car is still covered under warranty..pick a good time to go, and you probably also get a free wash..why not....this is "steering" we are talking about, you want to make sure the job is done right...

plus, V has been taken care our gs bros' rides very well, this is the least we could do, right

Hi Guys,

My GS alignment was OK. I think Teddy did not perform
the steering pretensioner adjustment or it could be my
mistake because he said year 2001 does not need it !
May be you guys should ask Veronne instead of Teddy.
Just my opinion ! At least Longo treat me will enough.
RX loaner and no excess charge !

My GS430 is a 2001 and the adjustment made a huge difference in helping eliminate the vibration. Call them back to have the adjustment.

Does it also help with the car shaking.... I don't understand how tighten the steering rack will prevent the car from shaking, maybe just the steering wheel (from shaking)???

I went to the dealer for the same problem today. They refused to tighten my steering rack! They advised me to get my new wheels rebalanced and the problem is gone, but not the 200 dollar bill they left me... They charged me for 2 hours of labor. They claim they used this special balancer called on-road balance machine which is 15 grand and it takes two hours to balance 4 wheels. Does this sound funny
