Default Thinking of purchasing an 01 gs430

Hello all.

I have been wanting one of these for quite sometime now. I found a nice clean 01 430 at a dealer asking 11,500. Is this a good deal? Also it has 165k miles. Is there any reason to be worried for such high miles? I have heard these cars are very reliable.

Thanks.

Is the dealer including Vaseline?

Kelley Blue Book Retail Value for an 01 GS430 assuming all options (Nav,Mark Levinson,17 inch wheels) is only $9,825 and that's if it's in Excellent Pristine condition in your locale. I would pass. You could find one with way lower miles for cheaper. The car is reliable in that it won't leave you stranded. But be prepared (as i am experienceing with my 02 GS430 with 105,000 miles) to deal with things such as replacing control arms, ball joints, door lock actuators which fail, electrical window components, Mark Levinson amps which fail over time due to overheating and other small nagging issues like sunroof rattles etc. The car is a joy to drive when it's aligned properly and has no steering wheel vibration, but you can easily find yourself living on these forums chasing down a problem needlessly throwing parts at the car to find a fix to an otherwise simple problem.

But don't take my word as gold. Just telling you the real story from my experience and from others i've read about on here. But you will find many others that swear by the car because they have not experienced any issues. That's the way it goes. Just like you'll hear folks bashing BMW for their bad experiences, but others who have owned BMW's for many years have not had 1 single hiccup and love them.

hey, i just said it from personal experiences. I saw a couple of gs430 (2001 of course) go for 6.5, 6.9k with about 150k and 175k miles. Those were asking price from the dealers. there's no need to be a d***head man... chill bro!
