I am Buying a 1999 certified GS 300 tomorrow
The dealer wants $29,200 for it, it's silver . It has 40,000 miles. I love it. Is the price right or to high? I have not put anything down on it and they are detailing it for me to pick up at noon on Wednesday. Please advise.

a little pricey in my opinion.
i was looking for one too and found one dealer was asking about $27.000 for a 99 white GS300 w/ 32000 miles on it (not certified but still under warranty). and the price was negotiable (I passed because it has grey interior). Also, note that silver cars are no longer as popular as used to be.

A little pricey...he's making his commission on that one..
Talk 27,000-28,000..
you might be able (unless your price has been set in stone) to show him the 'True Market Value' from edmunds. You can view the TMV price at www.edmunds.com under the used section.

I'm a dealer. I just sell old muscle car's. I recently bought my wife a 99 GS 400 excellent condition,17inch crome,rear wing,premium package,40k for $26,750 at a Lexus auction. They had over 250 for sale. 99 GS 300's were going for $20,500 rough to $25,500 excellent. There were only a few GS400.

Can you hook a brother up here in IL? Looking for a 2001 GS430 loaded black on black.

I wouldn't be too excited about the "certified" deal. Please be careful about the car's history. The prices are marked up because of the Lexus certification but think about what "certified" really means. I think it's just a pinpoint inspection and new floor mats. The warranty really isn't different than any other used Lexus with less than 50,000 miles. I think I got a raw deal with the certified program. Just my opinion from experience. Wish you the best of luck.

The auction was at Metro Milwaukee auction in WI. I think they do have online bidding. I'm not sure. You just have to have a dealer's licence. They are mostly Lease returns so most of the car's are 1999's right now. The only thing I don't like about the the GS400 I bought from the auction is the FM radio gets crappy reception. I'll probally take it in see if they can fix it under warranty?
It cost the dealer's $1000/$1200 a car to have them certified. Average wholesale on a 99 GS300 with 40k is 23,500 add $1500 for Transport, advertising, and having it certified the dealer probally has $25k in the car. They usally try to make$2-$3k on each car.

Double Tap, can you price a 98 GS400 w/60000 miles? No certified, no accident, no warranty, no navigation.
i need some ball-park figure whole sale prices on such cars.
this dealer is asking $27000 for the car. do you think counter-offer of about $23000 is reasonable?
thanks!

Any Navigation?
Is it easy to find the 97-99 GS 300 with navigation? My father bought the brand new 98 GS300 and the sale said the navigation option on the 98 GS300 is limited production.

Have you checked with www.kbb.com or www.edmunds.com for prices on these cars?
Edmunds has more realistic prices but between Edmunds and KBB, the prices are fairly close.
