Cool Would you buy GS400 front damage?

Question is would you buy, 1998 gs400 white with front damage, the front is pretty bad it look like it will need hood, fender bumper, grill hood, and radiator support would need replaced, I do not have pictures at this time. price is i belive 2900. I am interested in buying it but would like to know if its a good deal. I would be doing all the body work myself and when time to paint be paintin it black. Pros and cons would be great, Look forward to hearing from u.

Without pics or mileage, this thread is pointless.

Also if 2900 is too high, what would be a reasonable price, this is a dealer also

187k MOST DEF NOT WORTH IT. You can get a GS for cheap (hate to use the word) that doesnt have so much damage + lower miles...

do yourself a favor and walk away

Thanks guys, Yeah I might have to pass on this one. I've done body work to other cars but actually never did work to front damage (i replaced a bumper or two) but nothing where the radiator support needed replaced and everything. I have been wanting a GS for a while. GS300 more then a GS4 but anything really and I havent seen anything lower then 5 grand around here.

Just out of curiousity, how much would one look at paying for a fix of that, no air bags or anything are deployed, minus paint how much just parts

^ when all is said and done your going to end up wasting more the 5grand especially since you are going to repaint the whole car black. And if you don't repaint it black its still going to be alot to repaint the whole front end white because it has pearl. So its a three stage paint meaning the price ALMOST doubles.. Keep searching

Just a guess, but perhaps it got backed into while parked? Airbags would not deploy if that were the case.

Agreed. You're assessing it on the damage you can see right now. There could be all kinds of untold issues underneath that mangled front end.

Could it be the reason why the bags did not deply is that it looks like it was hit above the bumper?

As for buying and fixing, I would also say no. After you put all of the time, effort and $ into it you will still have a 187K mile "R-Title" (I assume it has a rebuild title). When the time comes to sell it it could have over 200K and a R title. Not sure how much you could sell it for but I assume it would be less then you would have in it.

Keep a eye out on craigslist, they do turn up near your price range. Here is a GS400 for $5k. Needs little work but you could drive this one today with similar miles.

added a few more pics, but I think im going to go withw hat you guys said and pass on this one, I called the guy this morning and told him and he said he'd lower it to 2000 cash today which sorta interested me. I do have a local guy down the street selling a bumper for a gs for 100 bucks and a hood for 100 but still would need the headlights and radiator support but like someone mentioned earlier, there could be untold stories behind the mangled mess. I did ask him how the wreck happened and he said it was backed into in a parking lot, still has a clean title. I think ill keep lookin and hopefully find a GS before summer gets here, Thanks guys!
