Won't shift out of park without using manual release
Mechanic said it needs

possible but check your brake lights also

Not a fuse, it's the part mentioned above. Hum.. guess I'm the only one that's had to replace this.

The exact thing happened to me with my old land cruiser, ended up being a blown fuse for the brake lights.

Fuses are fine, my mechanic has been a Toyota/Lexus/Scion tech for years who now has his own shop.

I'm currently having the same exact problem. I will check my brake light fuse. If that dosen't work I will order that part from Sewell.

Part was installed today, 1 hour @ $82 problem solved. I guess I'm the only one with a 2GS thats had to replace this?

This happen to me but I just folded some paper and stuck it in the shift release slot and forgot about fixing it... Its been 2 years.
How much was the part?

Where did you get this part from? This is pretty common for Gs300, you should do a write up about this. It would help many people.

Got it from Sewell, my mechanic installed this so I wouldn't be able to offer a DIY. BTW the shifters are the same for GS3 and 4 so it should happen to both.
