the guy knew he was in the wrong and tried to get you to leave so then he could blame everything on you. cops arent dumb, they know when someone is lying and the cop is right. if your making a left turn and you get into an accident, its your fault as your crossing lanes to make your turn.

Had I taken Mario's advice an just left, I would have had a very difficult time with my insurance. (State Farm) The deductible starts at $500.00, but if you can show that the accident was the other guys fault, it goes to $100.00. The conversation I had with the adjuster was straight out of Abbot and Costello’s "Whose on First" skit. (You younger guys don't know what I am talking about, but it's very funny). The adjuster said "Are you sure you didn't run a red light?" I said "My light was green, but it wouldn't have made any difference, his light was red also so for him to hit me, he had to be running the red light!" The adjuster said "You are sure your light was green?" Exasperation was setting in, I said "My light was green!" They still took two weeks to determine that the accident was not my fault.
This has been said before but it's worth repeating, when you get into an accident:
1) Inquire if there are any injuries, call 911 immediately. Do not assume someone else will do it. There were probably 20 people milling around my accident, not one of them called, and to a person, they did not like it when I did.
2) If you have a cell phone with a camera, take as many photos as you can. Be careful here, in my case, the crowd did not appreciate being photographed. Snap a picture of the cop and his car if possible.
3) Keep your mouth shut. Do not get into a conversation about fault with anyone.
4) Make sure that the investigating officer gives you what's called "The half slip" It's the bottom of the accident form that you are supposed to get, It has the other drivers information. Make sure it has the investigating officer's badge number.
I sincerely hope you never have to use the above information

I hesitate saying this, but simply put, the accident happened outside of a Hispanic restaurant. The gentlemen I got into the accident was Hispanic. The crowd of people that gathered around, including Mario, were patrons of this restaurant. There were two Caucasians there, me and the blonde lady that gave me her phone number. The crowd looked at me as the rich guy (Driving a Lexus) that was getting one of their own into trouble, and they didn't like it. If Mario could have thought up a better lie to attempt to get the blame for the accident shifted to me, he would not have hesitated. The only thing that saved my bacon was Mario wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer.
