no i dont. just a kinetik 1800 under hoood. big three and the h/o alt. i thought this should be enough!!! i dontt hink im running that much power. are our gs's that sensitive?! my voltage is high but wow is my dimming terrible. seriously when the bass hits the lights go almost completely off! i really didnt think this much was necessary

well first is first. i want.. no NEED to get this dimming fixed. its seriously worse than before i put in the alternator. i have no damn idea how, but it is! its incredibly noticable! its like a damn light show, no lie! yet my voltage is up at 14 volts so i dont get it.
and occasionally it does go down to 12 volts. im a little confused and frustrated.
i hope i dont need another battery, i didnt want to have to add more weight and more gear. u think a bigger battery would do it? REALLY need this fixed.

I got the alt. and will be adding another battery in the rear just for the air compressors.
Its only going to cost another 275+ or so . Of course depending on battery, and wiring awg etc... I think an HC1400 goes for $180.
Just dont know why the dimming is worse.

I'm not seeing any "big 3" in those pictures. 275 amps you need 0 gauge with heavy ring terminals and the engine and battery should also have a 0 gauge ground. I see a little 3, is that all 4 gauge?
Also, your failing stock alternator may have damaged your battery. Even a kinetik. When my alt went it took the battery with it quickly, and the car absolutely freaked out driving down the road. Pick a light that is dimming, put your multimeter on it, and check where the voltage hits at that location when your bass is hitting. Your capacitor should absorb any immediate draw that your big amps use, although I don't know what the rest of your system is. Your cap might not be large enough, another battery in the back (even a little kinetik 600) could fix it all.

I remember when I replaced my battery back in November before the GS went into storage and it didnt last too long because the alternator wasnt charging 100% with the compressors on. And with the added cold weather the new battery died within 2 months...
Granted an oem battery is not as good as a kinetik hc1800 but it may have lasted for that very reason.
Test the Kinetik battery and see if its holding proper charge ?

jbl full range amp at 60 watts per channel. and a sundown mono amp pushing 1200 watts rms. diamond audio d6 components in all the doors. 2 ten inch re audio se subwoofers. a 2 farad capacitor in trunk. 0 gauge big 3, and a run of 0 gauge to the capacitor. and 0 gauge to the sub amp. 4 gauge goes to the full range.
the cap i didnt get because of its use, i just got it mostly cus the distribution block and cus i figured it could help, but from what i hear on car audio websites.. they suck big time and they are worthless. on car audio forums they look down on caps lol. but mine is installed and it was a ***** for me to install it, so i dont want to take it out.

Im no expert, but with just 34 amp draw from the compressors, it can kill a battery (without the aid of the alternator in just a few minutes max). Im pretty sure you are putting more power than 34 amps so Im guessing another battery would help / solve your problem.

electical can get expensive as hell. i have two amps with current draw. in car audio they say to total the fuses on the amps and then divide those by 2 and thats usually the current draw, so i have about 100 amps in current draw.
and my battery usually is at about 12.6 volts. except when i turn the igntiion to accesory on the car my votlage goes down to 12. is that normal?

il definitely try checking my voltage at a dimming light and see how it is there. thats a good idea.
as for the capacitor, im not relying on that thing at all. as i said above, according to most people and articles ive read, capacitors are garbage, mine is just in there so i dont bother to take it out. but im assuming its not doing anything. or else i cant imagine what my voltage would be like WITH OUT the capacitor lol.
my system consists of 2 amps. a full range at 240 watts total rms. and a sumb amp at 1200 watts rms. besides these amps and the speakers taht are powered by it, i dont really have any other equipment that is making a strain on the electrical.

Engine ground on your car is the only wire from the battery. I can actually see it in your picture where you added another wire It connects to the frame about a foot up that cable through a bracket. With 0 gauge, and your new alternator, plus a good battery, I can't see why your voltage is dimming. Capacitors are NOT garbage, although there are garbage products on the market. I've seen caps cut in half which were almost completely filled with stuffing and lead weights!!! A better alternative to the cap would likely be another kinetik cell, like an hc600 where the cap is wired in.
