Creakin' Noises Suck
Many of you were posting comments relating to this subject on a different thread and I think it deserves its own. I just purchased a 99 GS4 and I have an annoying rattle in my glove box as well as a nasty creaking noise from my sun roof. Has anyone found a simple solution? Can the dealer fix this on warranty?
I have talked to other CL members and many seem to have the same sun roof issue. I was cruising with RMMGS4 and REDGS4 today and it looks as if it has something to do with the plastic lining around the glass...

I have the same problem w/ my sun roof and it's bugging the crap out of me. I've already got it replaced once and thought that would do the trick but it came back few weeks later. It's under warranty but the dealers don't know how to fix the problem yet. I guess it's up to us to fix them ourselves or unless they figure this problem out.

I had the noise problem with my glove box also. My fix was to get some of those small 1/4" circle felt pad (1/8" thick) sticker that you can get at the local hardware store. I place them opposite of the glove box light switch and the small rubber bumpers. I now do not have any noise problem from the glove box. Only noise problem I have is with the passenger door when playing music with strong bass.

Good suggestion, ChuH - I will try the sticker route and see what happens. It seems as if there are a bunch of people with similar issues...hmmmm

Nice post Mark. Guys, the link Mark posted is a list of Technical Service Bulletins. These noises are well known issues on our cars. Go to the link, and write down the TSB #'s beside your problem area, then take the car to the dealer and ask them to perform those TSB's.

Great info Mark, however I have a 1999 GS400 and I couldn't seem to get that site to list my TSB's. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Thanks Mark. So since I just purchased my car a month ago and it is a certified pre-owned 99 Lexus w/ 35K miles I should simply print out the TSB list and visit my dealer for free correction?
If this works, I am going to be one happy guy!!! I am sure there are a ton of other members who will also be very happy as well!!
Nice job, Mark!
