Default Turning Roof Trim Into CHROME! (Revisited)

Hey CL just curious I saw this on a BMW 760Li today and did a search and I wanted this topic revisited... For all I'll clue you in, the trim that runs along the roof on both sides (If you remove the paint) exposes a metal like surface. Now my question is what the best approach to this? Sand it down from 600 grit and working your up and polish it? Keep in mind this is NOT stainless steel or just getting chrome vinyl and overlaying it on top of the trim?
Thanks in advance.

i believe it is just a painted tape/vinyl thats over the brushed metal. i still remember them saying it peeled a little and they just eventually pulled everything off and it exposed the bare metal.

Yep its possible. Mr Executive has done it. He had the shop that was working on his car send those pieces to another shop and they polished it for him. I pulled the vinyl strips off but havent gotten around to polishing it yet.
