i expect more from you thomas....u failed at reading them. lol as measured says its from people over oiling their filter. i have run my k&n drop in for about 3-4 years and not once have i ever had a issue. i will be moving on from it this week as i finally bought my SRT intake. also as measured says you dont see any real improvements....my MPG flickered a tad but nothing i could for sure attribute to the filter

only time you will see an improvement is if your old original filter was clogged over 80-95% and then switching to a new filter. K&N or not the way we drive our vehicles in normal day to day conditions i doubt well notice a change. im not saying there isnt any improvement, but something you can "feel" no. youll only save $ in the long run from buying filter after filter depending on how often you maintenance it. if you are an **** type like myself i clean/reoil/clean maf on every oil/filter change. the $ saved will be worth the 60$'s spent originally.

I've had the K&N drop in air filter for years. No problems whatsoever. Minimal increase in noise and performance, if any.
To me, its just a rechargeable air filter that doesn't have to be replaced. I just clean it every now and then with the re-charger kit and its good to go. The recharger kit can last you 3-4-5 recharges depending on how liberally you clean it. Pretty decent savings. Just go easy on the oil like everybody else says. If you really are OCD, you can also use MAF air sensor spray and spray your MAF metal connectors ocassionally.

If I ever did a K&N again it is primarily for just that, reusable. I drive a LOT of miles, so $20 for a paper filer every 30k miles vs $50 for a K&N does pay for itself in less than 90k miles.
I typically don't change the filter till it is dirty and I periodially blow the filter out with compressed air, gives it a lot longer life.
