Default Master keys, how do you know when buying backups?

I am ready to buy a backup transmitter key to avoid the ECU issue in case of loss. My question is, how do you know if your key is the master? I have the big transmitter key HYQ1512V. I don't want to buy another one and then not be able to program it. Thanks

when the security light is flashing, put the key in the ignition, if it stops flashing immediately, you have one.

I had a key with no transmitter as my only key and this test worked.
