Default Rear fender metal is starting to split. HELP!

**impact of rim hit the fender which caused the split**

Last summer I shaved about 1/2 the rear fender lip off before the weld spots and all was good.

This year I stepped up my wheel game and went with a pretty aggressive setup but now it looks like my wheel has hit the fender a bit of times and the metal is starting to split.

I've read around that people use a sand belter to shave it all off, but wouldn't the metal fully split like what is happening to me now?

How do I fix this? Do I need to mig weld it the metal together after I shave it all off?

I'm running 19x9.5/10.5 +12 on stock body and arms, stance coilovers.

There are a couple of ways of going about fixing the split, the best being to do a complete seam weld on your inner fender and seal up the ****ty spot welds, in this case once you weld the inside your paint on the outer fenders will be more than likely messed up and you'll have to have your quarters re painted, this way being the proper way of shaving your fenders, otherwise just cut out the inner lining i have several friends who have done this to their gs's and they have had no problems at all for over a year. They also tell me it does not affect the cars frame or structure. Good luck bro

have to weld it up, that is the proper way to do it. you can spot weld and use seam sealer but the right way is to weld it up.

Ya, I'll probably have to find a shop that can do good metal work, shave off the whatever is left, seam weld it and dull out the edges.

Would I HAVE to get the entire quarters painted?

The lip of the rim grinded against the inner fender when I went onto a driveway (weight shifted onto the driver side)

NO you do not have to get the entire panel painted. they can spot paint too. If a shop is good, they can do it without seeing the paint difference.

That what happens when you shave ! I went more aggressive same stuff happened to me after a shave. My shop is welding it and slightly flaring the fender. But depends how low you wanna ride wheel offset and tire you got for fender work!

There is clear out that you can blend now without having to reclear the entire panel. used it on my truck, its pretty nice if the person spraying knows what they're doing.
