BIG C,
I'd honestly rather rebuild it, and know I have a "truely" reliable engine. To me it beats dealing w/ another fixer-upper engine. I'm in no rush, and I've never been known to take the easy way out. I'd rather spend 1yr rebuilding a motor that will be reliable, than 1yr servicing another engine praying it stays reliable.
My biggest dilemma is will I ever supercharge it....that's whats stopping the engine build really. Don't want to waste money on forged parts to stay NA.

Hahaha I'm not lagging. I got all the time in the world unless God calls me home first lol. With the new baby, new shop, and other things it's been a slow crawl. The good news is I plan to tow it to the shop within a wk or so, pull the motor and send it to paint. I hope to have coilovers by then so I can roll and pull fenders prior to paint, but the prototypes haven't arrived yet. Keep your fingers x for progress.
....then its back to slow creep while I inspect and decided engine build options, & save up for the interior make over.

Alright guys, finally after beating myself over the head. The motor is out! Tomorrow is the tear down and inspection. Depending on the amount of whats salvageable I'll either rebuild or buy another motor. If I can rebuild it for little to nothing I may freshen up the transmission as well. Inspect other aspects of the car tomorrow also.
Things on my most important to buy list as of now: ( suggestions welcomed )
Starter
Oil Pump
Water Pump
Timing Belt
PPE Headers
Lower Ball Joints
Core Support
Radiator
Trans Cooler
Fan
Hood Shocks
P.S. If anyone wishes to donate a harness I'd appreciate it, I got some broken connectors that happened pre-hand ownership, and I personally broke one today.

this all sounds so familiar...lol...save yourself a lot of trouble and time, just get a 1uz jdm. It will come with lots of extra parts, costs the same as a local junkyard....I am very happy with mine.

CS,
Thank You sir for the info. and I have caught wind of your thread before. I personally choose to rebuild mine because I'd like to supercharge it later. Nothing Crazy, Just a lil boost. If a new motor will cost 9-1400 and a rebuild would cost 9-1400 I'll take the road less traveled and rebuild it. Plus its good to have a piece of mind knowing actual mileage when heading to the forced induction department.
Congrats on your success with your GS!
