Default Finally a fitting intro.........GS4 Road to redemption.

Let me begin...My names Joel. I'm 28 will be 29 here shortly. I just got married back in Sep. to my GF and child's mother after 10years of dating. Commitment issues? No way! LOL Also we just had our 2nd baby girl in Dec. I just bought my first "lexus'' and it will be a learning process. I hope to learn and share as much as I can, and meet some new cool people along the way! Exchange connections, tips, tricks, and the like.

Here are some pics of our current cars.

My Wifes Car

My Current Daily on it's way out...parting it out to fix GS.

And my new-USED GS4 w/NAVI ( boo, now that I witnessed how outdated it is ) ....

So I was skeptical of buying this car, but I did, picked it up over the weekend. The engine is said to have been blown, as I asked around, I received a form of confirmation by another forum member. He wrote, " the #8 big end is done." So now it's time to take action. I don't know If I'll rebuild it ( if it's rebuildable ) or just replace it. After a few more tests, a oil pan drop, if all results agree with his statement I'll pull the motor and tear it down.

Cons
* Driver Seat & Armrest torn leather
* Scuffed F & R Bumpers
* Bad Psngr. Door Regulator
* Bad engine

HAHAHA...Thanks Puff, I actually was talking to a buddy of mine about that. I've decided to stay w/ the V8 setup, since I'm in CA. Smog laws suck. Also I plan to rebuild it myself, to keep costs of a new engine down. I found some rebuild kits online that I will be posting up later to get some opinions about.

I have yet to tear it down or compression/leakdown test it. I have a thread showing the engine noise. I was told the #8 big end was done, I don't know exactly what that implies. I do know general references, so I take it that its a rod. That's the most elaborate I can get as of "right now."

Those engines are basically bulletproof, must have been owner neglect or something, i've only seen one of these engines fail

Koo sir, thank you for the extended welcome. I'm here in Fontana/Fontucky area. Worst case scenario as I stated this will be my first rwd V8 swap-overhaul. Good to know ppl. are out there willing to lend some knowledge at min.

....I can't wait to run my comp, and leak tests. I'm out on the road now, picking up the kids and the test kits.

So I sprayed down the bay yesterday.........just to remove some surface dust & grease, nothing fancy because of the engines state.
Before

After

here are the contents I had found in the radiator, upon removing the cap.

Today - I stopped by Harbor freight and grabbed some items to help diag.

I began removing the covers & spark plugs. ( I know at bare minimum headgasket on that bank is done and seals on the other bank. )

after I removed 8 I stuck this extension in the cylinder as I could not see down the hole w/ the batt. in the way as my flash light mirror number didn't cut it.
#8 #6 #4 #2 #1 #3 #5 #7

I found this hose split in half goes to a solenoid on the IM, driver side upper. It's not a fresh wound as you can tell. no signs of hand prints, and or fresh rubber in the tear. So add that to the list during repair.

side note I found this plugged?????

Maybe even worse, you never know!

* Keep in mind, any aesthetics or mods you see in this thread will be done for my personal pleasure. If you like it when said and done fine, if you do not fine. When your at the checkout stand next to me, pulling out your cash/card for my goods then I'll consider your opinion on what I should or shouldn't be doing to MY CAR.

thanks
Joel
