Default chromed my grill!!!

well another thing i did during the weekend was to chrome my grill. it's pretty easy actually, and man what a difference!

for our memory....

How did you chrome your grill?!?! I would love to do try to chrome my grill also!! Is there a kit I can buy and how easy was it to chrome! Can you provide the step by step and info on price and time!

Welcome to CL! Odd as it may sound, the stock grill is actually chrome with the graphite looking paint sprayed over the top. So, by going to your local hardware store and getting some gel-type paint remover, you can take off as much or as little of the graphite paint as you desire, revealing the chrome underneath. Do a search here for "chrome grill" to get more detailed info.

yeah, get a can of paint thinner/remover and you are good to go. detailed DIY in a few days

what kind of paint thinner did you use?
I tried with paint thinner at my house I had which is for oil based paints and it didn't work. can you help?

Default I DID IT!

I just finished removing the paint from grill.
It looks awesome. I just used acetone and scotch scrubber. Didn't even removed the grill, just lefted on the car and scrubbed away. It took about 45 minutes. Awesome results. Will try to post pictures tomorrow.

ah, you did it before i posted the pic of the remover glad that you did it, it's much nicer huh? yeah i didn't take off the grill neither, it's not necessary unless you are chroming the whole thing

You guys are NUTS to not remove the grill...I would almost bet there would be paint damage to the bumper from the remover!
