Can you clarify your question? You mean like a 3rd party warranty company?

A GS430 should still be under the factory warranty I think.

If I were to buy a GS430 from a Lexus dealer and wanted to buy the manufactor's warranty what should I expect to pay for a 5 or 7 year 100k mile bumper to bumper warranty?

I did this two years ago. I believe it was somewhere around $1500.

Negotiate the purchase of your car to include the factory extended warranty. These warranty has a VERY HUGE markup. If they are not willing to throw that in. Offer them $500 max. I did that a few years ago on a new car and the factory extended warranty was about $1200+ and I ended up paying $300 for it. Good luck!

I seen them for $900-1500 on the Internet sites, for Major items it sure would be worth it.

Handy to have if you ever need it, but these folks play on our fears of high, out of warranty repair bills. Let's face it: they aren't in the business to lose money. So markups are high, claims are rare during the period warrantied and there are sometimes difficulties with payment from some of these companies.

Please spare me the anecdotes about "how my extended warranty saved my butt when the xxxxxxx went bad"........SOMEbody is always going to have a claim, but 99 others won't. That's why the warranty can be offered to begin with........

Who says we don't use math in daily life??

guess we shouldnt have insurance either?

for a lot of people (such as myself, who tends to break things/cars), the warranty is worth it for piece of mind.

Default Warranty Purchase, an Option?

Is this even an option? I thought the only way to get an extended warranty is if the car is already certified? If not, they can only sell it as is?

my understanding is if the car is still in the manufacure warranty period under the 4/50 you can buy a long hall warranty.

An insider told me that dealer cost to "certify" a Lexus like our 99 GS400 is $845. That assumes its had dealer service, good tires, etc. You also have to get it certified before 60k miles. That warranty is fairly close to bumper to bumper for 3yrs 100k total vehicle miles.

Thumbs up platinum warranty

I purchased the platinum warranty (5yr/100,000) for 2500 for my 98 GS400.. It must be purchased before the factory 36,000 mile warranty expires. Expensive but worth the piece of mind..
