Default Coolant splashed all under the hood on my GS400

I was sitting at the red light and noticed steam coming out of my hood, so i pulled over and opened the hood...Noticed coolant splashed all around radiator area, checked radiator & reservoir cap and it's tight.

What could it be guys....Car currently has 270k miles and doesn't overheat at all and never did, timing belt was last done around 190k.

Could it be water pump is leaking or thermostat?

cracked radiator - check the housing on the top. get someone to rev your engine while your hood is popped or your hose has a crack in it.

either your radiator end tanks, or your hoses sprung a leak.

Its going to be a challenge to see the leak if the coolant is all over the engine. I would clean it out first if I were you and make sure its dry. Then visually check everything from radiator, hoses, cap, water pump etc. Make sure you have proper lighting. Have someone rev the car for you while you inspect. My best guess its the radiator.

educate me...is that what they call, "the golden shower" ?

on a serious note, looks like it's coming from the radiator based on the trajectory.

Are you sure its not the rad cap? I had to replace mine not that long ago. The spring contraption breaks over time.

I'd say its your radiator. The ends are made of plastic.

You have to clean that area down before you can tell where its coming from. You will not be able to tell 100%. From the looks of things it looks like its coming from the driverside of the top or upper part of the radiator.

Clean it, make sure its completely dry, then have someone rev the engine.

Thanks everyone...to me it also seems radiator as the radiator area is more wet...Water pump area seems dry.

I'll order a new one...Should i get OEM from sewell or aftermarket?

Pressure test will solve the problem.

My recommendation, if you can afford OEM go for it. If you would like aftermarket, go for the brand Koyo. Almost exactly the same as OEM. Should be around $135. Here's a link of where I bought mine before. http://www.go-part.com/9805-lexus-gs...2-p-23510.html. If you can find it cheaper in your area go for it. Change your hoses and cap too. Should be a real easy install about 15 mins. Finally, dispose the old part properly. Good luck.
