Default Timing Belt and Starter Question

Can someone tell me if I do the timing belt is the starter close by? I know there are issues with our starters and I was wondering if I could save on labor by just replacing the starter when the timing belt is done. Or are they completely different in the labor department. Let me know. Thanks!

It is on the oppisite side of the motor. It is up to you if you want to do it. it is not any easier or harder while the timing set is being done. IMO

Timing belt is infront and starter is at the lower rear of the engine. Totally separate labor.

It's gonna cost you $600 for the starter job and about the same for the timing belt. There's a good DIY write up on here if you want to save some money.

Thanks everyone for their expertise on this. I was hoping! But no such luck with this one. You just know they would put them at opposite ends of the playground.

I'll just keep praying the starter lasts another 100K before it gives up. The starter in my wife's RX300 lasted over 200K before I had to replace it - it would be great if the GS had the same success. Thanks again for the info guys.

My starter died at 170,000km. Good luck
