ill try to give a full detailed thing of what i think about it once i really play with it and such.

as of right now the only thing i really dislike is that everything is sold seperate... (for ex. the Y cable)

i feel like if we pay >1000 for the headunit, we should be able to get life time subscription for XM radio, etc.

are you sure? why would u want to ground the vss wire?? . the vehcle speed sensor wire lets the navi know how fast u are goin so it can calculate ur estimated time of arival. how would u be able to ground that???

Looks good! I just had the same unit installed in my SC and I love it. Especially the ipod integration.

i dunno as my cousin did that part of the installation but it works perfectly

i didnt realize the unit didnt come with the "y" cable so i barely bought one the other day, still havent tested out the ipod

You got the cd-iu51v right? It's a newer cable then the previous 50v and apparently the only one that does video from the ipod.

yes i got the cd-iu51v, it was like 43 bucks i bought it on ebay.

im looking forward to sticking movies into ipod


have u tried using flash drives? does it work?

Hopefully you got an actual pioneer cable. There's knockoffs being sold at full price and they end up not doing video or cause humming/distorition in the audio.



This is for the 50v but I assume it's the same problem with the 51v.


The only thing I used the flash drive for was to load up the boot screen with a custom "Lexus Navigation Loading" image.

I had the shop do the video bypass so movies and nav controls cause be used while driving.

i did the bypass myself , they charge u extremely insane , if u knew what it was you would be so pissed its literally moving 1 wire up on the harness

how do you make the usb to load custom boot screen?

plus i bought it from a reputable ebay person

If you haven't already, check out avic411.com good pioneer forum.

To load up custom images you just have to burn a data cd or load up the sd card with a folder titled PICTURES yes in all caps. Then put whatever pics you want in it, but you may be limited to a certain pixel size. Then on the unit under I think splash screen just pick an image off the cd/sd card. Here's the one i'm using now...
