Check your lower ball joint, my steering wheel became stiff couple weeks before my LBJ went out.

how do u check the ball joints? because I wiggled the wheel and there was no play, and my mechanic checked the ball joints and said they look good, infact he said they look like they were changed before by the previous owner.

The pump is making noise?

I can tell what it is thats making noise but on cold starts for the first turn or 2 you hear a loud squeaking sounding like it comes from the PS area or maybe the wheel.

That's the belt that's squealing.

its DEFINITELY not the belt because I know what a belt sounds like and I changed the serpentine belt when it was making noise a few months ago and I think thats the only belt thats changeable besides the timing belt on this car. The belt just squeals while your parked, mine squeals only on the first two turns on a cold start, after driving a few blocks it goes away but ONLY happened when the wheel gets turned and at the same time the power steering feels very stiff, thats why I think its the pump maybe

Check the fluid's condition. If the fluid is alright, then your pump is dying out.

yea the fluid is good, it was changed a few months ago to fix that noise but it didnt work. So that means its the pump DEFINITELY? or could it be anything else? also when I start the car and leave it in park and turn the wheel you hear a noise coming from the PS pump area I believe. Is this normal? or is that the pump dying also lol?

so just so everyone knows, I changed my 17 inch OZ rims (which were pretty heavy compared to stock 16s) back to the stocks, and the steering feels much lighter but still heavier then it should be especially when parking.

So basically I think adding rims to the car just makes it harder to steer and throws off the whole steering as well as slows the car down.
