Well as you all may know. I currently own a 2000 passat glx. I think I have a buyer. So its time for me to start looking for my GS!!!!!!!!.. I'm not sure if I will be getting a 400 or a 300. It really all depends on the money. See if I get the 400,I will have to get a older one 98-99 or if I get a 300, I could probably get a 98-01. It really all depends on the miles. I would love to get one with a nav in it. I also really want black with black leather. Is that they way to go? Also in a month after I get the car I will be putting on some 20s and maybe some springs. What I need help from you is some feed back as far as color,300 or 400. If you guys could can you please post pics of your car so I can see all the different colors. Everyone with a white one you don’t have to post. White is not my type in a car. Umm What should I look for also when I go to look at them. any other info on buying on would really help me out. Right now my parents have a 99 GS300 and my boy has a 99 GS400. Both are great cars. See my friend said if he did it again that he would just get the 300 cause its really the same car but slower. thanks Guys

For pictures of all the colors, browse the GS gallery.

Black comes with either black or tan interior.

You're going to have to balance 300/400, mileage, nav or no, etc. and make your own decision!

300 v 400..

color: personal...blk looked the best when just been detailed; BUT had to keep clean( i have one, take my word for it)..silver is def nice too.

price: new one, the gs4 is ~$8500 more than the gs3...but, if you are looking at pre-owned, gs4 is a better value.

vin: do a carfax check, look for serial vin labels on all major body panels.

have a trusted tech look at the car before you committ to buy

www.autotrader.com

has many good leads.

take those and visit the wheel section when you are ready

umm..... if you are geting a used, definitely get the gs400. usually it's only around 1-2k more than the 300. you get tons more hp and torque. you will love it

for color, i would get dark color for the gs. black is classy but yes it's super hard to keep. i have black acura and i know it clearly. for my gs400 i have blue and seriously i have gotten nothing but compliment on my car. even those who say the blue civic si is ugly say my blue gs400 is pure pimp.

there is never rules on how to get a good car, just do your hw and look around for more options. either get a good tech to look at the car or get certified ones from dealer. no car is really built rock solid and problems could always happen. though i have to say lexus are of much better quality and unless the previous use did something very stupid it should be alright.

another factor i would look at is mileage. i always believe the lower the mileage the better. not way too low though (say a 98 gs with only 400 miles). those are show cars and a car not being driven "enough" isn't good to the engine.

Man I wished I was more involved with buying over the net when I gought my gs.
Check ebay and type lexus gs for search, I have seen some really good buys 300 and 400's. My friend just bought a infiniti over e-bay and it cost $500.00 to have the car shipped but she got the 1999 qx4 for $12,000 with 24k mi.
Good buys on ebay
p.s. GET THE 400

silver is a hot color too, and as said, doesn't show the dirt that a black one does....nor the scratches that come w/ daily use. nothing better than a new, detailed black car, but over time, i choose silver. black interior of course..

and yes, gs400 no doubt about it. if you get the 300, you'll only want the 400 later (no offense 300 owners!). buy the 400 now. especially since you are used to good accerlation on your passat.

mine had 37k pampered miles, it's a 98.

Here's another vote for those Binnos!! And I like that very clean look on Adam's GLX, too!!!!

Adam, I'd suggest a 400 also, unless you plan to turbo or supercharge the 300. Those 20s will have a noticeable effect on acceleration, otherwise.
