Amsoil is good BUT do not use it in a v8 as that trans requires special friction modifiers that these aftermarket oils do not have and will drastically cut the life of your transmission short it's just not worth risking it!

Amsoil is a one of the best fluids for 99% of the cars on the road but not in the case of some Lexus/Toyota transmissions.

Thanks for all the response guys. Ill just stick with doing a drain and fill every 5k oil change until I get through 8qts. Our tranny is 9qts capacity right? I have a gs3.

not wasteful in my thought process. I bought my car used with 78k on it...2002 and im trying to set my own baseline on maintenance. Im trying to get the fluid as clean as possible before I start my 30k oci atf change....i mean its only $10 for two qts of atf. I'm actually about to flush the psf and brake fluid this weekend. Maintenance is number one then mods.

Meh. The price of fuel is the biggest cost of ownership. Financially it's the same as if you could save 2.5gallons of gas, or drive 50miles less over the 5000mile interval. If you're looking to cut down on waste, take on what really makes a difference.

Did the tranny fluid drain & field this weekend. I'm glad that I bought 3qts, because that's what drained out after I had it on the ramps. After immediately looking at the Toyota T-IV bottles, I noticed that Mobil makes the tranny fluid. I know that XOM makes great fluids, so I will confidently keep using the dino T-IV.

Did a complete fluid evac which was something like 15 quarts with Amsoil. Noticed no difference between that and the Toyota fluid. Shifter the same. Longevity? Not sure. Sold the car a few months ago.

I used Amsoil before but went back to Toyota fluid. Why? $3.50/bottle vs $9/bottle for the Amsoil. Didn't really notice too much of a difference. Because the Toyota Type T-IV fluid is cheaper, it wins.

Where are you finding it for that price? Seems like there are different price based on dealer. I paid $5.50 per qt.
