LSX swap and you'll be wishing you never spent time and money on a 6 spd 3uz.

If you have enough money to find an lsx motor and tranny -- the mounts will be little to no money to fabricate.

Thanks for all the links guys. Looks like the manual swaps are all GS300s except the IS300, which has no details (except the video).

I've thought of the LSx, but it seems like even more work, and lot's of custom electronics, and lots of stock items no longer working. This is my DD, and I have to take customers in my car, therefore it must be professional, so stock interior is important (and I like a nice, clean, stock look). I'm ok with the power for now, and not to be too old, but I need to keep it at a reasonable MPG, as I'm currently spending $600-$700/month on gas.

If I can find the adapter plate I think I could make it work, what about the drive shaft?

The W series transmission is not so strong. Some people over on the IS300 forums have broken them on a NA 2JZ in a IS300 lol. I don't know how long I would trust the W55/58 to hold up in a long term reliability in the V8 if you drive the car hard. If you drive it normal, then I guess it would be suitable.

This is why I mentioned using the 6 spd v160, those transmissions can survive at 4 digit HP levels.

Nothing yet, I will figure that out later, I'm not too worried, I think a neutral switch jumper will do for a minimum setup. I can always look at the wiring diagram or put an oscilloscope on it.

I was reading the repair manual for the 2GS4 and it looks like the tranny can be pulled without pulling the engine, what I don't know is if the "new" tranny can be put in without pulling the engine.

Any ideas on the shifter linkage?
