How to replace driver's door glass
Hey guys I'm new to the site and asking for any help or info. Ia have a problem with my driver's door glass on my 98 gs300. When I press for the window to go back up it squeaks really loudly. I took the panel off to see what was wrong but figured that the noice coming from exterior, from outside of the glass within the door. I figured that something might of gotten lose and now rubs against the glass leaving big scratches on the outside of the window. I just want to know how to get to that glass properly, I also think I might have to take the door off in the matter of getting to the glass inside. If anyone can pls reply with some info about how to change the glass and open the whole thing up to fix it( I'm sure I can fix it, I just need to know how to take it all apart properly) I would be happily thankful. Thnx guys for reviewing my thread.

1. Make sure the window is about 3/4 of the way down.
2. Remove the door panel (interior). There is a step by step on how to do this in the Door Lock Actuators DIY sticky (2nd sticky from the top in these forums).
3. Remove the speaker pod (5-6 screws i believe).
4. Peel back the giant plastic film that keeps water from leaking into the interior panel.
5. You will have to remove two bolts which hold the glass onto the piece that makes it go up and down (a metal bar).
6. If you cant see the bolts, then you can use the remote to bring the window down or put the key into the driverside lock to raise it back up until it is at the perfect height to be able to remove the bolts through the speaker and the plastic lining openings.
7. Then pull window straight up by hand and it will come out. (you will have to push the metal bar back from the bottom of window in order to lift it as it will still be slightly attached to the window even with the two bolts removed. You'll see what I mean when you get there.

I'd get someone professional to do it. The 'catch' that causes the windows to close will never be positioned correctly. This happend to my gs300 when i had it. I had a body shop install the window and fix the car for me, but the catch was causing it not to close properly (basically roll up and then come down back about 3 inches). Called Safelite and had a good tech that fixed it.

Thanks guys for quick replies ) the thing is tho that it might be dirty at the plastic/rubber lip on the outside that the glass slides against, which causes it to squeak very loud. I think that might be the reason since it only squeaks when window goes up, I also figured that the problem is somewhere in the top part (plastic/rubber lip) because it scratched the glass all the way from bottom to top, so logically if it was the motor or the rods scratching the glass, the scratches would start somewhere in middle of the window? Im also wondering if there's a way to try cleaning it with out taking everything apart. Anyway thanks guys for all the Info, it is much help )
