Missing 'L' on engine cover..
So I take my 02 GS in for a 90k service (T-belt, water pump). Car was a the shop for 4 days and I get it back no problems. When I get home, I decide to look under the hood to check everything out. Something looks funny...the Lexus 'L' on my engine cover is missing!! WTH! So I called the dealer to see what happened and they don't know...they're currently trying to find me one. I'm on my BlackBerry otherwise I'd post a pic.
Question: is the 'L' stuck on or how it attached?? Can just that piece be replaced or does the entine cover need to be replaced? I believe it was "taken off". Funny how a 10yr old car ALWAYS had it now its gone..any thoughts?

Unfortunately mine is missing too and according to the dealer ship it comes together as an assembly so it can't be purchased separately. Only other way to replace it is to get a stick one like a trunk badge but you gotta get the right size to cover the 4 peg holes in the engine cover.

I took my GS300 to a local Lexus Dealer located on hwy 59 of Houston, Texas.
First, I remind you the services were great i.e. cookies and milk BUT...here are some notible and tragic experiences I had to endure as of ... say last 3 or maybe 4 months of time for visit to this particular dealer...cough cough...Sterling McCall Lexus!
1st visit) I had oil changed. I drove off and went home and opened my hood and tinkered around the air filter. Found leaves and even a dead insect inside of it. I checked the car check list sheet from the oil change service and it stated that air filter was clean! WTF! Also, the tire air pressure was incorrectly put in.
2nd visit) Again had an oil changed at this dealer again. After, I then drove for the next couple hundred miles and discovered the dealer dipshiiits forgot to replace the oil cap. So, I basically drove without an oil cap which caused the oil to squirt outside...a little *Whew. I went to the dealer and explained the situation. The service manager gave me an free oil change and a new oil cap. I asked him if he could have someone clean out the oil spill inside of my engine and he agreed. (did I had to ask????- I shouldn't had to) Next day, I discovered the "L" logo on the engine bay was GONE! WTF! I called Sterling McCall Lexus and they told me to comedown and I did. The mechanic took a look and he told me that entire cover had to be ordered. I declined and left. I regret it now..but anyhow, the meat and potato of the story is...Never trust your dealer and always check things yourselves..especially the air filters and tire air pressure...and yes even your oil cap to L - logos...good luck.

USMCLexus, they probably just looked at the top of the air filter without actually taking it out of the box.
Also, I lived in the Sugar Land area right off of 59 in the mid 90's. I've never been to Sterling McCall though.
