if that the case that a easy swap then but dont you think for the price of the screen you can pick up a whole unit cheaper ,but then again run the risk of it happening again idk

There is a DIY here on how to remove the radio. Removing the LCD from the radio itself is a piece of cake. There is a white rectangle plastic attachment on the old LCD (it attaches the LCD to the head unit). You need to remove that and place it on the new LCD (it does not come with it). You need a soldering iron with smallest tip you can find and a soldering iron sucker. This will be the hardest part because the pins are very small and they cannot touch other pins (short circuit). Easy way would be to pay someone to solder it for you. Install in reverse and you're done.

You pretty much answered your own question. but then again run the risk of it happening again (or probably even worse problems since you don't know the condition). If you replace the LCD, you know its 100% brand new. But its your choice.
