Main reason for DIY is the ability to go back to the wood in the future. I did not feel like painting over the wood. However, the quality is better when you paint. If you'll never want the wood again, go with paint. Otherwise, stay tuned for DIY info on how to wrap your wood (don't take it the wrong way)

I did what Ray did, just took it a step further. I wrapped my wood in vinyl, then painted the wrapped pieces. I'll post some pics later.

I had mine painted the exact color of the exterior by a body shop. I would never go back to wood..it looks great! They painted thn clear coated so it doesn't chip or scratch or anything. I'll have to take pictures. i've got some, but they're not too clear.

Ok gang, here are the pictures;

Tried to take shots in low light so the texture wouldn't wash out.

Believe it or else, I used some stuff from Rustoleum called "Hammered" finish. It's supposed to look like a piece of metal thats been pounded on with a ball pean hammer. Comes in a couple of different colors. I wound up using about 5 cans because it's very difficult to get an even texture across the whole piece. I'm just using this until I can get the blackwood or something else.

my color is an exact match of the outside of my car, Melinuum Silver Metalic. The texture is a little different than the one you see above, but very close. JYOO, I can't believe you remember me from that show!! It was raining the entire week I was there!! My car hated it! Lots of nice cars up there though! I saw alot of them when I was driving there and back home. I'll try to find some pictures at home so you guys can see my painting too. sorry for the lag!!
