Default New to the game

Hello CL peeps!
I'm a proud owner of DWP GS3 with 150,000 miles. I've owned 2 Hondas before this whip, both were 4 bangers. Since i've had her, i'v done the timing belt/water pump, tranny drain/flush, spark plugs, lower ball joints/tie rods(outer),cabin/engine filters & new battery. Previous owner replaced the starter. My problem is when I start my car & immediately turn the AC on, the car fluctuates from 500 to 1000 rpm. It only happens when the ac is turned on right after I start the car. Even if the car is warmed up, it will do it. Strangely, if I drive for about a minute or so (ac off) , then turn it on, the car runs fine. Also, AC gets stronger & colder when I start to drive. Is it my alternator? Any advice would be appreciated.

Check your pulleys, also did you change out the serpentine belt? Get the a/c compressor checked, rule that out.

afaik your alternator wont' cause your ac to act up or down..

Good advice.

The AC Compressor could be seized. If you have access to a quality scan tool with some enhanced communication abilities you can check the AC system for trouble codes.

I guess its possible to route the serpentine belt wrong and cause issues but this seems unlikely. And if it had snapped you would have lots of other issues.

Welcome!

I see you did the lbj and outer tie rods. But don't forget to check out the lower control arm no. 2 bushings.

Welcome to CL. Your ac compressor might just be overcharged. That can cause idle problems. Was it recently serviced?
