Hello Everyone,
This is a great site. I just purchased a Lexus Certified 1999 GS300 Black with Ivory interior a weekago. I've wanted one for a while. The first thing I want to add to it would be a rear deck spoiler. Does anyone have a good place to purchase one? I like the factory look and also the lip type.
The only problem that i've had was the tires were 'S' rated Contentinal Touring LX tires. I don't know how I missed such an important item. The dealer will replace them with this week. It has the stock 16 inch wheels.
The second item is the steering feel sloppy and the frontend sort of rattles(play) in the steering wheel when I travel over small bumps at 5-10 mph. I also get a little vibration at higher speeds (50-65 mph) as well. I don't know if the steering pretension tightening would help this problem. I will wait until tires are replaced and if the problem still exist, I will pursue the steering pretension. I've looked alot of the treads and will continue. Does anyone have any prior experiences or pointers they could share with me.
Thanks,
CP

Welcome to the club. There are many reasons for vibration. It could be tires- balancing or out of round. Some get flat spots overnight that work out in about 5-10 minutes. You could have a worn shock. The 4 wheel alignment could be off. So...have you rdealer go thru all of these. My vibration ended when I went to th eL-Tuned suspension+4 heel alignment so it coul dhave been either for me. The pretension also had helped but not cured.
As for the spoiler I have a stock silver one for sale for $200 in the GS classified section. I was going to paint it black and put on my GS4. I did buy all the mounting H/W in black that I'll include. To paint the spoiler should be around $100-150. If you buy the spoiler from Lexus I think it's around $500.
Good luck with your GS.

I think I bought a spoiler through www.spoilers.com through their ebay ad for about $220. However, I'm not satisfied with the quality. The fiberglass used to make the spoiler is really thin making the spoiler feel flimsy. The center section vibrates at highway speeds and also vibrates a lot when closing the trunk....feels like its going to break into a hundred pieces. IMHO, its not worth the money. Pay the price for the better quality from the dealer or at least inspect the quality at an aftermarket shop before you buy it. Good luck

Actually spoilers.com is just a web company that I know of. I haven't bought a spoiler from them before and I'm not sure of their quality, but if you say they aren't that good that must be true.

Welcome to CL and congrats on the ride! Before you do anything wait until the new wheels/tires are on, it may solve your issue. As far as the spoilers go stay away from the eribuni stuff its pretty much all knock-off sold on ebay. Rod Millen Motorsports makes nice 1 piece factory look spoiler (actually a little nicer IMHO), the 3 piece -eh- peopl have had some less than satisfying experiences with. There are few current spoiler threads around right now. Good Luck!
